I don't know why, but I was feeling extra confident yesterday. So I decided to buy diapers from my Dollar General today. I planned this all out in my head one night when I was going to bed.
Now I'm not going to say my age, but I am under 18 and I don't have a car or get money regularly or anything. So this was a bit tricky to pull off. So pretty much this is how I did it:
First, money. My birthday was recently and I had about 50 in cash, so that was the money I was going to use. Then transportation comes next. I live in a small town so everything is close to each other. My school is about 1 mile away from Dollar General. I asked if I could stay after school and go to the park to play sports with friends and such. My grandpa said sure and he would pick me up at 5:00. I get out of school at 3:15 by the way.
Alright, I'm at the park and I start walking to Dollar General. Nothing much going on. It took me about 25 minutes to walk there. I set down my backpack next to the redbox movie rental thing and went inside.
I didn't feel any sort of rush like I thought I would, though. Okay, I grab a basket and put a bag of chips and some toothpaste in there. I saw someone I knew from school at the store, so I waited until they left because I did not want to be seen buying diapers by someone I knew. They left after about 5 minutes. I'm now waiting for this lady to leave the diaper aisle because I needed to browse for a bit to find the right size, and it made me feel uncomfortable with someone near.
Alright, she leaves. I quickly rush into the aisle and look at the selection. Now Dollar General doesn't have the best diapers but I got some generic training pants that supported my weight and waist size. They were on sale for 8 dollars and came with 15 diapers so I thought it was a good deal. I casually browse waiting for the line to clear up so I don't have to wait awkwardly in line.
I step in line and put my things on the checkout counter. I don't know why but I was expecting some kind of comment from the cashier, but I didn't receive anything. She bags my items like its no big deal or how any other cashier would. I hand her the money, grab my bags and walk out.
I did it, I put the bag in my backpack and headed back to the park. It was only 4:10, so I still had a good amount of time before I was to get picked up. By the time I got to the park it was 4:30. I headed into the bathroom to try one on for a fit test. They fit fine, a bit tight but they were still good. I decided to just leave it on and walk back out into the park. This was my first time wearing in public and buying diapers for the first time, so I accomplished a lot in one swift afternoon. I decided to wet a bit just for an absorbency test and they worked out fine. I needed to mess but I didn't want to risk that smelling in the car and such so I just waited until I got home.
It was a pretty nice day and my plan worked out smoothly. I encourage everyone else to buy if you haven't already. It's not as bad as you'd think, really. And it was well worth it too. Thanks for reading :)
So I bought for the first time today...
